Extended childcare:
Childcare is available through the YMCA in our building both before and after school. Creative Care offers care after 2:30 on site as well.
Academics:
The academic activities are designed to support the children's development of reading, writing, math, and literacy. Our schoolwide reading curriculum is Treasures. We are in the process of adopting a new math curriculum. In the past, we have used Bridges.
The kindergarten classroom is structured so children can continue developing their social and emotional skills. Your child will be encouraged to use respectful and kind language. Friendships are created easily with their classmates. There are many opportunities to make choices and collaborate that will enhance social-emotional growth. The classroom environment provides a safe and nurturing experience for children.
Connections-Communication:
Parent involvement is welcomed and encouraged. Parents have been their child's most important teacher and are eager to see their child be successful in a school setting. Volunteering is helpful in enriching our curriculum and helps us meet individual needs. You are welcome to drop in when time allows in your schedule or set up a regular time to volunteer. I value your support immensely.
Newsletters are sent home on a regular basis so you can be aware of your child's learning and experiences. Our school has a sustainability focus, and you will be included in many of our activities in this arena.
Transitions:
Kindergarten students are always escorted from one area of the building to another. Your child's safety is very important and we understand your anxiety about security.
Kindergarten is Fun!
All students at Adams have Physical Education and library taught by specialists. In addition, we are able to work with an artist in residence. This year we are focusing on dance.
Hope to see you at Adams,
Sally Webber, Kindergarten Teacher
