Cal Young Middle School Tour

The original Cal Young Junior High building stood on land donated by Cal Young,
a member of one of Eugene's pioneering families.
It was opened in the fall of 1953 and became Cal Young Middle School in 1981.
In the summer of 2006, the old building was demolished and replaced by the new building seen below.

The doors open to a
soaring, light filled lobby.

In the morning and at lunch, students gather in the Cal Young Commons.

Students can exit the Commons to enjoy the sunshine or the rain
in the Cal Young courtyard.

The metal sculpture entitled "Currentsea" hanging above the library circulation desk was created by retired Cal Young teacher Raymond Beard and his son, Ryan who is currently a teacher in Eugene.
