Controversial Health Issue

a webquest for ninth grade lancer health class

Introduction

The purpose of this WebQuest is to allow you an opportunity to study and think about differing points of view related to a medical/social issue. We believe that this kind of activity will help you develop critical and creative thinking skills so that you may address problems in family, community and work environments in a way which improves life.

You should make an informed, rational, reasoned judgment, then take a position.

You will take on the role of a member of the community and take a position from that person's point of view. The roles are different depending on the issue you select. The roles are described on each of the issues pages. Go to Issues to see the possibilities.

In becoming familiar with both sides of a controversy, you will become more informed and may experience a shift in your thinking about an issue. Research has shown that when this happens students become more inclusive. The thinking behind values and beliefs drives every human interaction, either smoothing relationships or triggering conflict.
