da Vinci Application Process

Selection of students for da Vinci is based on student self-nomination. An equal number of boys and girls are admitted on the basis of application and space available in the program. Parents and students must make written application and attend one of the following orientation sessions in room 21 at Kelly Middle Schools, 850 Howard Avenue, Eugene, Oregon:

The lottery (with an equal number of boys and girls selected) will be held shortly after the last parent orientation session, and parents will be notified of student selection or place on the waiting list by Spring Vacation. Parents must confirm acceptance of da Vinci selection by April 15. To find out where your child is on the da Vinci waiting list, call the Records Clerk, Connie McNair, at 687-3224.

Here's what the process looks like:

Teachers get materials ready for the presentation.

The introduction of the staff.

Mr. Hubbard explains the iMovie about da Vinci made by students.

Then the audience gets an opportunity to ask questions about the program.
The final step is to fill out the application form handed out by the da Vinci teachers, and wait for the lottery results.
