Helping Hearts Project
Eastside students engage with the local community through the Helping Hearts
Project, an all-school project run entirely by parent volunteers. Students raise
money to help homeless families get into housing and acquire essential supplies.
Students donate items from home to be sold at our annual Fall rummage sale,
make crafts through parent-run Wednesday Workshop,
and sell them at the Holiday Market.
Students often meet the families they are helping, assist in shopping for the
supplies needed by the family, and develop an understanding of social and ethical
issues through discussions in Advisee.
Homeless
Project Fund Raising
Eastside usually works with St. Vincent de Paul’s to help a family from
the Renters Rehabilitation Program. The Helping Hearts project provides first
and last month’s rent plus deposit for a family, and funds for counseling,
consumable products, and monies as they are available.
Donations are also accepted. All fundraising proceeds go to the Eastside Helping
Hearts Project. Any funds above those needed for our chosen homeless family
will go to assisting additional families.
