each week. During these thirty minute classes, students learn
to sing a wide variety of songs, play instruments, listen to
music of different styles and cultures, and learn sign language,
movement games and dances to music. |

Children in the primary grades play xylophones, drums, and other percussion instruments. 4th and 5th graders also learn note reading on the recorder. There is an after school choir for grades 3, 4 and 5. The choir performs at school and in the community.
In music class, students learn the basic elements of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, form, tempo and dynamics. They also learn teamwork, thinking skills, and self expression.
