Dear Students and Families,

Because we know that children learn best when they feel safe and relaxed, Second Grade September activities center around building our classroom community. Our four broad aims are:

• Creating a climate and tone of warmth and safety.
• Teaching the schedule and routines of the school day and our expectations for behavior in each of them.
• Introducing students to the physical environment and materials of the classroom and the school, and teaching students how to care for them.
• Establishing expectations about how we will learn together in the year ahead.

As the children learn to work together, we will be observing to see where they are academically.This year our entire school will be focusing and practicing the concepts of Compassion, Integrity, Respect, Compassion, and Inclusiveness.Please plan to attend the Second Grade Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 29th at 6:30 where we will discuss the general curriculum for this school year. Parent conferences will be in October, and at those meetings we will plan for your child's year.

School Supply List:

• BIG backpack - first & last name printed on outside and back of straps
• 2 refill packs of wet wipes
• Additional supplies will be purchased by the homeroom teachers. Do not purchase supplies for your child, please!
• A check for $40.00 to cover these expenses will be requested the first week of school.
• No binders or school boxes, please.
