Winter Warmth Donation Drive
Nov 30 - Dec 11
Please bring in used (and new) clothing items for our Winter Warmth Drive. The clothing will go to the Pearl Buck Center (which helps people with developmental disabilities and their families). Bring in clothing items (for both children & adults) such as: coats, jackets, sweaters, sweats, pajamas, socks, boots, hats, mittens. Plus other items to keep you warm like blankets, and sleeping bags. Last year the Pearl Buck people were so thankful for the mountains of warm clothing we donated. We’ll have collection bags in the office and quad hallways: Mon 11/30 – Fri 12/11.
For Charlemagne: This time of year, we’re also in need of children’s sweats and stretch pants for our rainy day emergency clothes here at school. During rainy weather recesses, kids get muddy and wet and need a change of clothes. So instead of throwing out your kids’ outgrown sweats, please deposit them into the Winter Warmth bags. We’ll sort through the bags and replenish our emergency supplies in the Health Room. Thanks!
Sponsored by Charlemagne’s Esprit de Corps Committee. Contact Melissa Sikes or Janet Butler for more info. Coming this February: A school-wide Food Drive for Food for Lane County 2/1-12.

Bonjour!
Discover French Pastries without the Extra Drive or Travel!
My name is Barbara Walraet. I am the parent of a fourth grader at Fox Hollow Charlemagne. As a French native speaker, I feel blessed to have found such an amazing school, where our children learn important and fundamental values, expand their horizon, learn to embrace diversity, learn about French culture, and diligently learn to master the French language.
Many of you already know about my new venture as a “Pastry Chef” with the opening of my French Pâtisserie, “CARAMEL” in Eugene (please visit our website at: www.carameleugene.com ).
Enrolling your child in the French immersion program shows your interest in France and its culture. Therefore, we developed our new Community Supported Pastry (CSP) program so you can discover French specialties without having to drive any farther than the school! Take home sweet or savory specialties throughout the school year, which will be delivered to Charlemagne on two Fridays (every first and third week) each month (1:30 pm at pick-up time or 5 p.m. for Fun Club families). In addition, 10% of the proceeds from your CSP enrollment will directly support Charlemagne as a fundraiser!
To enroll, you can download the flier and get more info about the Program.
We are looking forward sharing with you a tasty bit of French culture. - One pastry at a time!
Merci et bon appétit!

WHO?
WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?
The office continues to have problems connecting with parents, sometimes in emergency situations. If you have moved this summer, changed home, work, or cell phone numbers, or email address, please send the correction to secretary Heather Perry at <perry_h@4j.lane.edu>, or give the office a call at 687-3177. In addition, if you know that you will be moving and not returning to Charlemagne in the fall, please let the office know.
Many thanks!

SCRIP IS EASY MONEY!!!
Speaking
of contributions, one of the most under-utilized sources of FREE money
is scrip. Please read below for more information about how you
can make money for the school at absolutely no cost to you. This
really is too good to be true, but for once it really is true.
Using scrip or escrip is an easy way to make a donation to Charlemagne at no cost to you. Local merchants donate from 5 – 10% of the amount of your purchase directly to our school and our national merchants donate from 1– 6% of your purchase amount, again at no cost to you. The merchants do this as a service to the community and schools. You may buy Sundance, Newmans, and Uncommon Scents Scrip at the office (just ask Heather) or register online to use escrip for a variety of stores.
Check out the participating merchants for our area and elsewhere in the country at: http://www.escrip.com/ .

It only takes a few minutes to register. Here is what you do:
1. Go to www.escrip.com. (a secure website)
2. Click on “1” for “Sign up, It’s Free”.
3. Click “Group ID”, type in “7748978” in the search field, and then click on “Search”.
4. A new screen comes up that shows the school. Click on “Charlemagne at Fox Hollow” and then click on “Next” to proceed to the next step of registering your credit/debit card(s) and Safeway card.
Just think of how good it will feel to know you are contributing to the school without spending any extra money!
Some participating stores are Safeway, Payless Shoe Source, Eddie Bauer, Market of Choice, and Office Max. Also Whole Foods and Zupans in Portland for our Portland friends and relatives. Albertsons is not part of e-scrip but has its own “Community Partners” rebate program. Ask at Albertson’s for a community partner’s sign up form.
Once registered with escrip, use your Safeway Card at Safeway, and any registered credit card at all the other participating merchants. Remember to update your credit card information at escrip if your credit card expires or changes!
