Climate Survey
Please click here to fill out the Survey
regarding the school climate at Charlemagne. The survey is very important to Site Council as we attempt to gauge the climate of the school and determine areas of focus for the coming year(s).

Each family should take one survey. If you have more than one child at Charlemagne and they have had very different experiences, please try to give a composite of their experiences in one survey.

Our goal is to have a 75% family response on the survey; that means we need each of you to respond. The deadline for responding to the survey is Monday, March 8th.  Please let your voice be heard as we strive to improve our school.

Many thanks in advance,

Charlemagne Site Council Members

Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference in your child’s school?

Have you enjoyed working in the classroom or serving as a member of PTO, but are looking for another way to expand your experience and input at Charlemagne?

We need YOU as a parent representative on our school’s Site Council!!

Site Council is the governing body of our school. It is made up of parent representatives (serving staggered two-year terms), teacher representatives, one classified representative, and the principal. Site Council meets once a month to discuss school curriculum, school structure, staff development plans and training options, job postings and qualifications, the school calendar, and any other concerns parents and teachers may have.  Serving as a member of Site council is an excellent way to make a difference in our school and to be involved in important issues and decisions.  Two parent representatives are needed!

If you are interested in serving as a parent representative on Site Council for the school years 2000/10 and 2010/11, please submit the application to the office by Friday, March 15th, or email it to Keith Crudgington at kbcrudg@gmail.com.

Elections will be held online. Questions?  Contact : Kelly Powell-Smith (541-510-4479), or Keith Crudgington (541-338-7939)

Thanks for all you do to make our school a great place for our children!

"Jug of Coins for Haiti"
Help the People of Haiti
with the basics: food, water and shelter
$ $ $
Every single penny helps !

Each and every penny (or any money) you donate can make a difference
for the people of Haiti. Let’s help them recover from the devastating
earthquake that destroyed many homes, businesses, schools and hospitals.

Bring your coins in today! Look for a plastic "Jug of Coins for Haiti" in the main office
and add your coins to help Haiti. We'll continue collecting money until
Mardi Gras, then we can see how many jugs we filled!

Our money will be donated to “Save the Children.” "Save the Children” has worked
in Haiti for 25 years. Their offices did not suffer the structural damage of other
non-governmental organizations, so they are up and running with 100 staff
on the ground providing food, water, shelter and child-friendly spaces.

This event is sponsored by Esprit de Corps. For more info call Melissa Sikes 683-8384.

Volunteers are still needed in the library and lunchroom/playground.
The library has open shifts throughout the week. Lunchtime/playground help is needed daily from 11:20-12.

Bonjour!
Discover French Pastries without the Extra Drive or Travel!

My name is Barbara Walraet.  I am the parent of a fourth grader at Fox Hollow Charlemagne.  As a French native speaker, I feel blessed to have found such an amazing school, where our children learn important and fundamental values, expand their horizon, learn to embrace diversity, learn about French culture, and diligently learn to master the French language.

Many of you already know about my new venture as a “Pastry Chef” with the opening of my French Pâtisserie, “CARAMEL” in Eugene (please visit our website at: www.carameleugene.com ).

Enrolling your child in the French immersion program shows your interest in France and its culture.  Therefore, we developed our new Community Supported Pastry (CSP) program so you can discover French specialties without having to drive any farther than the school!  Take home sweet or savory specialties throughout the school year, which will be delivered to Charlemagne on two Fridays (every first and third week) each month (1:30 pm at pick-up time or 5 p.m. for Fun Club families).  In addition, 10% of the proceeds from your CSP enrollment will directly support Charlemagne as a fundraiser!

To enroll, you can download the flier and get more info about the Program.

We are looking forward sharing with you a tasty bit of French culture.  - One pastry at a time!

Merci et bon appétit!

Barbara,

If you are shopping online, escrip can be earned for Charlemagne!

All it requires is that you go to the escrip site (they have links to online retailers) and use the credit card that's registered to escrip. There are TONS of online retailers, like Borders, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Sephora, Toys R Us, Macy's, and literally dozens more.  The Charlemagne website has a link to register your credit card if you are not already registered, or if you have new cards.
Free School Transportation Services for K-12 Families
Free services provided by Smart Ways to School can help parents find
carpool partners, or find other students to walk or bike to school
together. We also provide the free LTD pass for students in grades
6-12. Call 682-6212 or visit www.swts.ltd.org for more info!

Please note that there is also a map and sign-up sheet in the office.
Come take a look if you'd like to participate in a carpool.

WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?
The office continues to have problems connecting with parents, sometimes in emergency situations.  If you have moved this summer, changed home, work, or cell phone numbers, or email address, please send the correction to secretary Heather Perry at <perry_h@4j.lane.edu>, or give the office a call at 687-3177.  In addition, if you know that you will be moving and not returning to Charlemagne in the fall, please let the office know.
Many thanks!

SCRIP IS EASY MONEY!!!

Speaking of contributions, one of the most under-utilized sources of FREE money is scrip.  Please read below for more information about how you can make money for the school at absolutely no cost to you.  This really is too good to be true, but for once it really is true.

Using scrip or escrip is an easy way to make a donation to Charlemagne at no cost to you.  Local merchants donate from 5 – 10% of the amount of your purchase directly to our school and our national merchants donate from 1– 6% of your purchase amount, again at no cost to you.  The merchants do this as a service to the community and schools.  You may buy Sundance, Newmans, and Uncommon Scents Scrip at the office (just ask Heather) or register online to use escrip for a variety of stores.

Check out the participating merchants for our area and elsewhere in the country at:  http://www.escrip.com/ .

It only takes a few minutes to register.  Here is what you do:

1. Go to www.escrip.com. (a secure website)
2. Click on “1” for “Sign up, It’s Free”.
3. Click “Group ID”, type in “7748978” in the search field, and then click on “Search”.
4. A new screen comes up that shows the school.  Click on “Charlemagne at Fox Hollow” and then click on “Next” to proceed to the next step of registering your credit/debit card(s) and Safeway card.

Just think of how good it will feel to know you are contributing to the school without spending any extra money!

Some participating stores are Safeway, Payless Shoe Source, Eddie Bauer, Market of Choice, and Office Max.  Also Whole Foods and Zupans in Portland for our Portland friends and relatives.  Albertsons is not part of e-scrip but has its own “Community Partners” rebate program.  Ask at Albertson’s for a community partner’s sign up form.

Once registered with escrip, use your Safeway Card at Safeway, and any registered credit card at all the other participating merchants.  Remember to update your credit card information at escrip if your credit card expires or changes!
