Bienvenue à Charlemagne!     Welcome to Charlemagne!

Bienvenue à Charlemagne!

Charlemagne at Fox Hollow French Immersion School is beautifully nestled in the hills of south Eugene at 5055 Mahalo Drive in south Eugene. It is the first part of a K - high school program that continues at Roosevelt Middle School and South Eugene International High School. Our goal is for families to commit to the full program that will allow language learning and cultural experiences to be maximized.

Each grade level at Charlemagne has two classes, varying in size, but generally having between 22 and 27 students each.  Our total school enrollment is capped at 292 students.  Our learners have instruction approximately half of the school day in French and half in English.  Our French teaching staff includes native French speakers as well as fluent non-native speakers. Charlemagne has four classroom instructional assistants, all of them French bilingual.

Specialists provide instruction in PE, music, library, speech, special education services and technology support. Parent and community volunteers are very involved in the school and are encouraged to participate at whatever level suits individual families. This includes serving on committees, being a room parent, cutting out bulletin board letters or mixing salt dough at home, as well as ensuring that your child is loved, supported, fed, read to, and delivered to school day prepared to learn.

Students in the kindergarten class attend school either Monday/Wednesday from 8:30 – 2:45 and Friday from 8:30 – 10:30, or, Tuesday/Thursday from 8:30 – 2:45 and Friday from 11:30 – 1:30.  Students in grades 1 – 5 attend M – Th from 8:30 – 2:45 and Friday from 8:30 – 1:30.  All students are excused at 1:30 on Fridays.

Entry into this great language and cultural immersion program is determined by lottery. Enrollment for fall admission begins each year in January and continues into  March. The lottery drawing is held in March. Although residence in the Eugene School District is required for general admission, students outside the district can be accepted on a space available basis by paying tuition or receiving a transfer from their home districts.

Charlemagne is part of the Eugene School District which prides itself on having strong educational programs at all of its schools.  The district also offers distinctive alternative programs, such as Charlemagne, for those families who desire different learning experiences for their children. We promise to give your child a wonderful educational experience while engaging them in enjoyable and memorable adventures.
