Classroom Responsibilities
Attendance Procedures
Kelly seeks to maintain a safe learning environment for all students. To this end we request your help in making sure that we know where our students are during the school day.
Daily attendance must be checked every period of the day in order for official records kept in the office to be as accurate as possible. Accurate attendance records are important to the state, district, students and parents. Their accuracy is dependent upon your consistency in checking roll in each class period. The following procedures should be used:
1. Attendance should be done on eSIS at the beginning of every class period by the teacher. Note: Attendance calls are placed during the school day to the parent or guardian when a student has been marked absent for 2 or more classes. For this reason it is extremely important that your attendance is entered during your class period. Students arriving late to school should have a pass from the office in order to be admitted to your class.
2. Students arriving late to your class from another class will be considered tardy, unexcused, unless they have a late pass. Note: do not send students to the office for a pass when they arrive late from another class. The office does not issue late passes unless the student has been detained in the office.
3. If you have a student or students that are becoming a concern because of their attendance, please let the attendance secretary know of that concern. Every effort will be made to make contact with the parent and the student to correct the situation.
4. Kelly Middle Schools is a closed campus. Students
may not go home for forgotten homework, because they are ill or any other
reason without contact with the parent or guardian. The teacher or office
must speak with the parent or guardian before the student leaves campus.
The office must be informed that a student is leaving campus and when the
student returns to campus.
