CRISIS OCCURS
In a medical emergency, the person first
on the scene remains to provide initial first aid.
NOTIFICATION
Crisis is reported to the communication center (front office)
ASSESSMENT
Primary intervener assesses the situation

Primary intervener activates immediate response (emergency RESPONSE medical,
building containment, EMS, evacuation)
SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE / POSTED THREAT
Teacher will call Primary Intervener
and get guidance before taking action.

Teachers

Lock doors, close blinds, and instruct students to sit on
the floor (out of the line of sight)
- Take role, report missing/additional students to office when contacted
by office staff vie telephone
- If students are away from classrooms (PE, lunch time, etc.), staff
will direct students to the nearest safe shelter
- Remain in containment site until further directions are given by the communication
center
- Teachers who have their prep period will check halls and restrooms, to
check for students who are out of class and direct them to the nearest safe
shelter.
Students
- Remain in containment site until further directions are given
- Unsupervised students are to go to the nearest classroom or place
where there is an adult
DIRECTED EVACUATION

Activates fire alarm

Evacuate building according to fire drill
procedures. Wait for signal
to re-enter building or for additional emergency directions.
DIRECTED EVACUATION DURING LUNCH
Students
Students in the cafeteria
proceed out back, taking their lunch with them.
Staff
Teachers on lunch proceed out back. Cooks sweep the cafeteria,
and then exit. Keith and Communicator #3 check the restrooms in main hall,
and then exit building by library. Communicator #1 check restrooms by cafeteria
and exit through cafeteria. Custodian check restrooms by 6th grade. One PE
teacher check locker rooms before exiting, while the other evacuates with
students. One science teacher check the restrooms in the science building.
EMERGENCY PERSONNEL ARRIVE
Upon arrival, emergency personnel will assume complete responsibility for handling the emergency situation. School personnel will assist when appropriate.

2. Master schedule indicating where students/staff are located

DEBRIEF
Once the crisis is over, the Crisis Response Team will conduct a
comprehensive debrief of the crisis response plan. Revisions will be made
based on data gathered at the debrief.
