Information Flow and News Bulletins
The flow of information among staff members is the key element controlling the success or failure of problem solving and decision making for the total group. An information bulletin (Monday Notes) will be emailed to all staff on Friday afternoon for the following week. Every staff member is expected to share information that may be vital to the process of decision-making. The Staff Handbook and the Student Planner are other vehicles for information flow. Team Minutes are emailed to team leaders and kept in the Team Minutes notebook in the Team Leader’s office.
Teaching Teams
There are six teams at Kelly. They include three grade level teams,
the related arts team, student services team, da Vinci team and the Yujin
Gakuen team. Our organization into smaller teams helps students feel bonded
and connected to their teachers, to one another, and to what they are learning.
It also increases our ability to support one another, work collaboratively;
plan lessons and problem solve about students, plan interdisciplinary units
that link subject-centered learning, and develop closer connections with
our students and with one another. All team members are expected to attend.
Program and Communication (Pac 8) Team
As the leadership committee for the staff, this group meets twice a month to deal with current or immediate issues. Any staff member may suggest an agenda item through any PAC 8 member. All PAC 8 meetings are open and staff members are invited to attend. (PAC 8 seeks staff in put, reports back information to teams, and sends some items to staff meetings in a proposal form.) PAC 8 members are team leaders from the da Vinci Team, Grade Level Teams, Related Arts Team, the principal and the assistant principal.
Teaching and Learning Through Technology (TLT)
Every team has a representative who meets on an as needed base to guide school policy and decision making regarding technology.
Staff/Curriculum Coordination & E.E.A. Meetings
The entire staff makes
many major decisions about Kelly’s program and
procedures during its bi-monthly meetings on Wednesday mornings. Staff Meetings
are designed for us to share information about research, effective classroom
strategies, and new ideas. The first Wednesday of the month, the staff meeting
begins at 7:45 a.m. The third Wednesday is the curriculum based staff meeting,
the first 10 minutes is reserved for E.E.A. business (from 7:45 - 7:55 a.m.)
followed immediately by the Curriculum Coordination meeting. Everyone is
expected to clear his or her calendars for these meetings.
