Keys & Building Alarm System: Sonitrol

After school and weekends the building is monitored by the Sonitrol Security System.

KEYS

Each staff member will be issued keys to the area in which he/she works. No school keys are to be duplicated at any time by the staff member. Lost keys are to be reported immediately.

HOW TO CHECK IN: (Entering the building)

1. DETERMINE IF YOUR ARE REQUIRED TO USE THE SYSTEM. As a general rule, you do not need to use the system if you are going to be in and out while the custodial staff is on duty. You must use the system if you arrive before, or leave after, a member of the custodial staff. Typically, you will use the system on the weekend.

2. ENTER THROUGH ONE OF THE DELAY DOORS ONLY. (The front door, or the one by the Library from the Science wing corridor)

3. The east wing keypad is located on the right hall wall just past the Library exit door. The west wing keypad is located on the right hall wall just past the custodian/nurse’s office area. If the keypad is beeping (indicating that you are the first person in the sector), ENTER YOUR CODE NUMBER INTO THE KEYPAD AND PRESS ENTER, then write YOUR NAME and TIME IN THE LOG. If there is no beeping, you must still write your name and time in the log.

 

HOW TO CHECK OUT: (Leaving the building)

1. MAKE SURE THAT ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS ARE CLOSED, AND NOTHING IS ACTIVATING THE MOTION DETECTOR. The red ALARM light should be off.

2. DETERMINE IF YOUR ARE THE LAST PERSON OUT BY REVIEWING THE SYSTEM LOG.

3. ENTER YOUR TIME OUT IN THE LOG. If you are the last person out, then

4. ENTER YOUR CODE NUMBER INTO THE KEYPAD, PRESS AUTO ON, PRESS ENTER.

5. WAIT UNTIL THE WAIT LIGHT IS OFF AND THE RED ON LIGHT IS LIT. (The keypad will begin to “beep” slowly.)

6. EXIT THROUGH THE DELAY DOOR.

 

COMMENTS:

1. If you are not able to operate the system, call Sonitrol at 461-5678.

2. If you fail to properly check out, a school administrator or custodian will have to go the school and reset the system. Typically, we determine a check out failure around 12:30 a.m.

3. You must check in and out of each section if you move between sections in the building.
