Madison is a community middle school. We support community education, based on the belief that learning is a life-long process and that communities hold the resources for their own development.
To do this we:
1. Promote citizen (parent and non-parent) participation in determining programs
and activities at our school.
2. Utilize available human, physical and business resources to support our
curricular program, after-school program, and our optional programs such
as Rec Zone, Kidssports, athletics, etc.
3. Encourage community use of the school building . . . evening and after-school
classes.
4. Facilitate communication between community members and existing agencies
. . . co-sponsorship of events, social service referral, and the newsletter.
5. The Rec Zone after-school program, sponsored by the City of Eugene.
State of the Art Facility Our new building is an elegant, two story, brick exterior building with spacious classrooms, in clusters of four around a commons area. The four commons areas facilitate individual and large-group instruction, skill building, study skills, and project/presentation preparation. The new building also includes many state-of-the-art features to enhance teaching and learning.
We are one of the first wireless public middle schools in the nation! All
teachers have lap tops and every classroom is equipped with projection, sound,
and audio-enhancement systems. Students have access to 160 computers with
70 new lap tops.
