Madison Middle School has several programs for recognizing students achievement. It is our strong belief that students should be recognized and rewarded for their efforts to make Madison a great place to get an education and to enjoy school.
1. Classroom Recognition
2. Positive Referrals
3. Lion Loot
4. Citizenship Award
5. Semester Recognition
6. Awards Assemblies and Showcase
All staff members at Madison believe that it is important to recognize and reward students in a variety of ways. At staff meetings and in informal gatherings ideas are regularly shared on how to best maximize our efforts that stress the positive qualities in students. Doing so reinforces good behavior and effort as well as making the job of teaching exciting and rewarding. Teachers should outline their expectations and students should make it a point to find out what each teacher expects of his or her class and cooperate in helping to achieve those goals.
These awards are given to students for positive accomplishments, both in and out of the classrooms. Students who receive these awards are scheduled to meet with a school administrator and are recognized further by a certificate and acknowledgment in the school newsletter.
Lion Loot is a component of the Positive Behavior System (PBS). Lion Loot is an acknowledgement given to student when they are caught following the rules. This Lion Loot is collectted by staff and turned into the office for a weekly drawing, where the lucky students drawn can win a variety of fun prizes.

Students who are role models for outstanding or improved behavior and/or achievement will be recognized by invitation to an all school event such as an ice cream or pizza party. This event is held at the end of each semester.
During the year students are recognized for pursuing excellence. Outstanding students in all subject areas are singled out for appreciation as well as students for their school leadership, outstanding service, exceptional athletic accomplishments, etc. Certificates are given to students at awards assemblies.
