I have always enjoyed traveling, camping, hosting students from foreign countries. I also love abstract art, music, and dance. My most important hobby is drinking good coffee! I have been working with children for over 5 years both elementary and middle school. This is my first year working at Meadowlark and I am very lucky to have been placed in such wonderful school. I was born in New York City. I like to take long walks by the river and spend time with my daughter when I am not working at the school. My family consists of myself, husband and daughter. We moved to Eugene about 5 years with our dog Bitsy. Last Christmas we bought Prince Kyle a beautiful white cat with gray and black marks. We live in the South Hills and enjoy a quiet neighborhood.

I began my career in 1967 working with the Franklin Pierce School District in Tacoma, Washington as a switchboard operator and receptionist at the district office.  I used an old fashioned cord type switchboard that you see in the old time movies.  When we moved to Boise, Idaho I was hired by the Boise School District and held various positions throughout my 10 years there (Classroom Aide, Title I Assistant, Elementary Office Assistant and as the Library Assistant ) Then when we moved to Twin Falls, Idaho I was hired by the high school to work in their special education department and also did a little substitute teaching in the Art Department.  In November of 1984 we moved to Eugene and was hired within the month by 4J School District as the Department Secretary to the Life Skills Network at Sheldon High School.  Then in 1992 I became the Office Manager for Meadowlark/Buena Vista.  I have worked for 37 years in the educational field.

My hobbies are playing the piano, horseback riding, water color painting, gardening, golf and antique shopping!!! ((My husband calls it my “Retail Therapy!”)   In my spare time, my side job is creating wedding cakes!

I LOVE working in my garden and using my favorite tool the "rotor tiller!" You should see me in my “pucky” boots, overalls and straw hat covered from head to toe in dirt!  One of my simple pleasures in life is sitting in the sunshine on my front porch, with the dog and cats gathered around me, demanding attention!  . We just sit there and enjoy the warmth of the sunshine.

Jim and I have 6 adult children who have families of their own. We have 14 grandchildren that range in age from 18 months to 17 years old.  Two of the grandchildren live in Japan.  Jim and I own the “Tool Peddler” and two mobile SK Tool trucks. He sells tools to companies that need specialty tools for vehicle repairs.   Jim has been in the tool business for 40 years and knows every tool and its purpose, but  I am still trying to figure out what the difference is between a drill bit and screwdriver bit for my Makita!

As many of you know, I love animals and have a boarder collie, 1 indoor cat, 4 outdoor cats, 6 sheep, two horses and a donkey.   Before we purchased our first horse,   my grandson Jason, told his Grandfather that he had to give Grama a loan so she can buy a HORSE!  Well, it looks like that worked because we now have two horses and the donkey!

I guess one of the reasons I am still at the elementary level is I am still a “kid at heart!”   Can you tell????

When I am not here working at Meadowlark I enjoy traveling, watch football, and eat chocolate.

I love to garden, and spend a lot of time in my yard planting, weeding, pruning and mowing.  I also find that kind of work relaxing. I spend time skiing, taking long walks, and I take a yoga class.  Spending time at home with my family is a very special time for me. I've been working at Meadowlark and Buena Vista for about six years now.  I've worked in the library for six years, and in Meadowlark classrooms for the last three years. I was born in Englewood, New Jersey and moved to Eugene in 1981.  My husband's job brought us out to Oregon 23 years ago.  My husband is a captain on ocean-going tugboats. When I’m not working at the school gardening, cooking, reading, yoga, skiing, hiking, and camping are things I really enjoy.  I really love doing any activities outside.   My daughter just recently taught me to knit and I love it. Spending time with close friends, my family and relatives is something I truly treasure. I've been married to my husband Bruce for 24 years.   We have two daughters.  Both of my girls went through Buena Vista and they are still a part of Spanish Immersion.  My oldest daughter Jenna attends college at Cal Poly in San Luis Opisbo in California.  My daughter Kiersten is sophomore at Sheldon High School in IHS and Spanish Immersion.
