What is WEB?
WEB stands for “Where Everybody Belongs!” WEB is
an exciting, successful orientation program at Roosevelt that
helps sixth graders make the transition to middle school from
elementary school with the help of eighth grade WEB leaders.
What is a WEB Leader?
WEB Leaders are eighth grade students who are good role models.
WEB leaders know a lot about Roosevelt, and they use their communication
skills, leadership potential, and personalities to share their
information for success. One of the first important jobs of
a WEB Leader is to welcome the sixth graders to Roosevelt on
the first day of school in September. WEB leaders are trained
during the summer. They learn team-building activities, cooperative
games to help their group get along, and discussion skills.
WEB Teams are made up of 2 WEB Leaders and 8 – 10 sixth
grade students.
Who is in Charge of WEB?
Fran Calciano, Karen Marashi, Joyce Stevenson, and Lauren Richardson are the WEB
Coordinators for RMS. They will be recruiting WEB leaders for
next year’s WEB program during April. Fran, Karen, Joyce, and Lauren are looking for 7th graders who want to help make Roosevelt
a friendly, safe, and welcoming school.
ALL 7th graders are welcome to apply for the WEB program. Each
year this program attracts more students than we need. We work
to find opportunities for all students who want to help make
Roosevelt a great school, but not all applicants will be selected
to be a WEB Leader. Advisors will have information about how
to apply for WEB starting in April, and an informational meeting
will be held on a later date to be announced. The application
due date will be posted. Return completed applications to Jane in the front office.
