WATCH OUT FOR THE KETCHUP

Mr. Don Jackson say's that a giant hamburger fell from the sky. Jackson says it landed right in the middle of the Whiteaker school's soccer field. Students from room 1 says, 'It was a hot air balloon and it got closer and closer to the ground' 'It started above the play ground then we went back in side the class room and about 50 seconds later we went back out side and it was on our field.' 'It looked about 50 feet wide and about 20 feet high.'
The man that was in the balloon showed the school students how the balloon went up in the air then back down again. Students say that they had to eat breakfast outside by the balloon. So there you have it burger lands in field.

Scholastic Book Orders

I will be sending Scholastic Books order forms each month. This is a fairly inexpensive way for your child to acquire a library. Please send orders in a sealed envelope with your child's name and room number on the front. Orders take from two to three weeks for delivery.

Morning Schedule

A reminder that Whiteaker starting time is 7:45 am. It is important that your child arrive on time. We begin spelling instruction at 7:50 and eat breakfast together at 8:10. Children who are late often feel disoriented, miss our morning "Whiteaker Family Time" and have to make up late assignments.

Homework

Hopefully, you have already seen and signed your child's homework folder. You can expect your child to have homework each night with the exception of Friday. In most cases, students should be able to complete assignments individually. If your child is having difficulty, please let me know via the assignment sheet, and I will make adjustments in instruction.

Discipline Policy

Whiteakers school-wide discipline policy promotes each students' right to learn and grow in a safe environment. Students are expected to follow directions, respect others, do their best work, and take care of materials, both personal and school. Fighting is not tolerated at our school. Children who engage in fighting will be sent home.

Computers

We are excited about having new computer equipment this year and access to the Internet beginning sometime in late October or November. For now, we are getting reacquainted with ClarisWorks and honing our keyboarding skills. We will be using the computers for many of our research projects during the year.
