This project was developed to provide Whiteaker students with the opportunity to complete a career studies project combining traditional and multimedia presentations. Students were able to use the World Wide Web, electronic encyclopedias, e-mail and traditional resources located in WhiteakerOs library and the Eugene Public Libray as sources of information for their projects. Personal interviews were conducted by a few students over the telephone with persons who were experts in their chosen career field. To complete their projects students learned Internet searching techniques as well as how to manipulate graphics, video and audio in their presentations.
This project would not have been possible without the funding provided by U.S. West Foundation Learning With Technology. The funding allowed the school to upgrade existing computers so that both four/five classrooms were multimedia cabable. Hard drives were replaced with larger capacities and internal memory was also increased in existing machines. Microphones, Zip drives and video cards were also purchased to support the project. |
