My name is Linda Kirk. I am excited to be your child’s first grade teacher this year.  After teaching a 2-3 multi-age classroom for 9 years, I was delighted to move to first grade. This is my 7th year of teaching first graders to read, be happy and make friends at Howard. I have been married for 39 years and have 2 grown children. We also have 2 wonderful grandchildren. When I am not teaching I enjoy gardening, golf and grand parenting.

•Room 3 students will have homework Monday, Tuesday,         Wednesday, and Thursday nights. The homework assignments will be either reading, writing or math activities. 

•Your child may need crayons, scissors or glue to complete assignments. Homework comes home in a homework folder. The completed work (or uncompleted) needs to be returned at the beginning of each school day. Please sign any envelope or paper that asks for a signature/comments. A Friday envelope with finished work and any school notes needs to be returned on Monday.

•Each day your child will fill out a ABC’s of My Day card:

The A= How was my attitude today?

Did I try to do my best? Did I cooperate with others?

The B=Was my behavior card green all day? Did I a get a yellow warning card change? Or did I get a red card for not correcting my behavior?

The C= Was I a good helpful citizen at Howard today? Did I help for a peaceful community in my classroom and school today.

Note: If your child receives a red card, we will have a conferences for about 5 minutes  before going to recess.

   Every Friday please sign your child’s ABC card for the week!
